I know I'm pushing my luck here in terms of what we can probably expect the android runtime on the Z10 to be able to do but my question is re the latest version of the BBC iplayer android app (ie not the weblink app available from Blackberry World).
I've downloaded and installed the latest version of the iplayer app (ie 2.0.0.337 which launched on Friday) from Google Play including using Market Enabler on my Android phone to "pretend" it was an HTC One (being one of the Android phones that the new iplayer programme download function says it allows). The app works on my android phone. The iplayer apk file converts to bar format and sideloads fine onto my Z10 but freezes when you run it (I've rebooted the Z10 several times and also reinstalled the android runtime). Usually it pops up a message after a minute or so saying do I want to continue to wait or close the app. (I am using the unlocked android runtime on my Z10 although I still also have a valid debug token installed from pre unlocked days.) I've also installed BBC Media Player from Google Play onto my Z10 as that seems to be required on an Android phone to permit streaming from iplayer (not sure if that is the Adobe Flash issue meaning it isn't needed on the Z10 but I have tried with and without it installed on the Z10 and it doesn't make any difference).
I'm on 10.2.0.1047 on my Z10 with the unlocked android runtime installed over the top. All the other converted android apps seem to work fine.
I am guessing that the issue is to do with the requirements of DRM within the download-enabled iplayer app and that the iplayer app is trying to check something in the file system that the android runtime on the Z10 either doesn't allow or the app is getting an unsupported/unexpected response and hence hanging.
Have any of you clever people tried to get the latest android version of the new BBC iplayer app working and been successful (with or without download functionality in the app being functional)?
Thanks
