My Z went nuts after vacation

I was one of those smug bastards who hardly ever had reboots or issues. 3 in 5 months, had weeks of uptime in between me forgetting to charge and letting the battery die.

Just got back from 23 days of vacation (silly me didn't bring the Z). 18 app updates to download and then things started to get weird...

* podcasts app that I use at least 2 hours a day was unresponsive
* phone was freezing with some frequency
* GPS wasn't working
* various other things that I forget

I tried removing all the apps that were updated and things got worse rather than better. Several apps failed to remove, some (CB10 for example) were "half removed", showed as still installed in BlackBerry World but wouldn't launch and no icon.

I decided to "reinstall" which was also interesting... "reload software" from BlackBerry Link accomplished nothing, this supposedly resets to factory state but didn't change phone state at all (all broken apps still there).

Finally I tried a security wipe which took hours, didn't time it but at least 2 hours for sure.

The security wipe did the trick however my SD Card was unrecognized, I tried erase and format SD and both failed (Kingston 64 GB). I had to reformat SD from my PC.

I have reinstalled all the apps I care about (good opportunity to take out the garbage), and everything's now fine.

Pre-problem I'd used 12Gb of internal storage and 22GB on SD.

I still love the phone but it was more than a little a little disturbing!

Which reminds me, time to make a backup ...
