Hi there, I'm a newbie to the Z10 and the smartphone world (late-bloomer). I bought a Z10 Saturday, Feb. 16 with a 500mb plan. It's Wednesday, Feb. 20 and have already used 124MB of data! Clearly, something is 'on' that shouldn't be on and is eating into my data plan. The only things I have set up are my personal email account, facebook and linkedin - all of which have had very little activity over the last four days.
I haven't downloaded anything, watched youtube, movies, listened to music or anything like that. I checked out Facebook photo albums and had a 15 minute facebook chat yesterday. I haven't browsed anything on the internet. I text messaged and used BBM with one other BBM user.
I checked with sales staff at the Source today and they suggested that I turn off the location services function which has been on since I bought the Z10. I have also switched off 'data services' (which disables BBM and internet connections) in the meantime but left 'mobile network' on so that I can actually use the phone to call and text people. I haven't had a chance to try a wi-fi network yet. I will check my data usage tomorrow if there has been any difference and will then switch 'data services' back on and see what happens. I am hoping that it was the location services function that is the culprit. Any other suggestions from forumers would be welcome. Thanks in advance!
