Calendar Inviting Work with Gmail?

I used to be able to opt out of inviting contacts to meetings if I didn't want them to get the emails from me constantly changing the event.

I want to use my Gmail account for my calendar so it syncs to my PlayBook and computer, but if I add people to the invited list, I don't necessarily need them notified. More for my own knowledge of who is attending. Can this be done?
