STOP pulling email addresses from emails

If I want to compose an email, I click on the TO: and begin typing in a name, ex HOME... I notice that there are addresses to people that I don't Know being suggested. I've decided that they come from emails that a friend sent and these people are CC'd so now how do I get rid of them and make it never happen again?
