Z10 - My Experience (to those who want to switch)

Okay guys, after owning this thing for nearly a month now (I think it has been nearly a month), I figured I might as well tell you what I think. Firstly I'd like to say that this thread is targeted at all those hardcore BlackBerry fans that are still using legacy devices for the productivity. Well, if you aren't willing to read the rest of this post, my advice to you would be DO NOT SWITCH, unless you're going onto the Q10.

Let's see, I've owned a few curves here and there, a few bolds, and the BlackBerry Z10 of course. The sexy white Zed. Coming from the Bold 9650 and 9700, it was quite a jump. Woot, I can finally watch porn on this thing! Okay no, but really, I don't have to worry about clicking on a webpage that isn't mobile friendly. I know that it will load up perfectly. The hub is great. But um, are you honestly telling me that such a feature didn't exist in the old BlackBerry devices (messages folder, containing emails, BBM, WhatsApp, calls, etc). So anyway, I'm drifting away from the topic. The phone's battery life, amazing. The phone's looks, amazing. People can't trash talk about my phone any more. And it multitasks well, I love playing a YouTube video in the background and doing something else just to show off its multitasking ability. I love BlackBerry 10 so much that I'm trying to learn developing for it. I love the way apps use cascades, as I always used to say, I wish this app felt like it was part of the OS, with the same theme, and integrated. Or I wish this app had a similar interface; and now we have it. Am I happy? Yes. Am I content? No.

I think they virtual keyboard is the best out there but did I really adapt to it and are there times I miss my old phone? Think of it this way, if you're with a new girl and you're still missing your ex, follow your heart, you know something's wrong. I would just like to mention that I AM a teenager, 16 years old, and I was one of those people constantly on my phone, one of the fastest typists I know, especially on mobile devices. So yes, I was very into my keyboard, and still am :( The OS is great, but maybe I should have gone with the Q10. Just maybe... I never really use third party apps on a phone anyways, well on BlackBerry 10 I use CB 10, WhatsApp, Memo Pad and Torch Flash, all of which offer a very "BlackBerry-like" experience. Oh and Battery Lover's always running in the background to tell me the percentage. As much as I love all of this, and never dared using WhatsApp or the CB app before, I really didn't need to. I will not talk to someone simply because I don't like using a third party app on a legacy device. Yes, that did create problems but hell, BBM's going cross platform, so the problem's solved.

Anyway, my point is, I miss my keyboard and I really do think that despite how flashy the phone is, despite how productive it may be, depending on your usage, you may miss out on productivity. I was so frustrated by the way I couldn't type perfectly on my Z10 and I always find myself correcting stuff because with or without autocorrect, I cannot type perfectly. So either way, I'm screwed. I honestly do not know how amazing the Q10 will be, but due to the touch screen OS the smaller screen size may not be ideal. It does have a keyboard though, keep that in mind. So all you legacy device owners, you don't necessarily need to switch, and if you're one of those hardcore keyboard fans who looks away and types at the same time, the Q10 or an old bold is the way to go.

However, for everyone, all those people who aren't too fussed about the virtual keyboard, the phone's amazing. The phone's the best. And the virtual keyboard, is better than the rest.

I just wanted to share this with the community and I wanted to apologise to those people who did try to tell me, some with exaggeration, that the Z10 is "years behind" the legacy devices, in terms of efficiency. Gotta love the exaggeration though. Anyways, 4:50 am, I'm gonna end this post here but feel free to ask me a question about the keyboard experience on the Z10. I know that I really, really wanted to ask someone exactly like me how they feel about it. I wish I would have known you guys aren't that hardcore T_T

So yeah, thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone.:)
