BB10 on Z10 + Having trouble typing chinese?

Hey everyone,

I got a brand new white Z10 a couple of days ago and I'm loving it!
But I have one small problem with it. And I'm hoping some of you would be more experienced in this than I am.

When I try to type Chinese, either Traditional or Simplified, the keyboard just keeps typing English.
I've seen videos of where a single keystroke will bring up "suggestions" in Chinese.
I have the suggestions in English no problem.
But when I change the input method over to Chinese, nothing shows up.
I'm hoping that something in my settings is preventing the "suggestions" or Chinese to show up at all.

For example:

1. Tap-n-hold "globe icon" to switch to "Simplified Chinese".
2. Tap "ni", which should prompt 你. But only shows up as "ni".
3. proceed to type "hao", which should bring up 好. But only "hao" shows up.

What am I doing wrong here?
I'm thoroughly, utterly stumped.
