Ive been reading some of the latest specs on the upcoming A10 which os supposed to be the Cadillac of the BB10 family being released this year and the specs are not at all impressive. The only difference seems to be in the 5" screen size and the 2800mAh battery size. Aside from that, there dont seem to be any major upgrades from the Z10. In fact, there are even some downgrades in performance with regards to the display resolution which is going from 1080p to 720p.
Again, i would have expected this dying brand to salvage some of its market share by revolutionizing the market with its next product launch. Apperently BlackBerry doesnt see the need to innovate the market in order to save itself.
I would have expected a better display resolution, quad core processor, more RAM and a better camera, but even the cameras are the same at 8M front and 2M rear.
BB10 has had a rough launch from what i can tell. My own experience has been quite negative. The OS seems to finally be stable with the latest MR launched today. From what i am reading in the news, CB forums and market analysts, the Z10 user experiance has been less than positive. Unstable OS performace riddled with reboots, a lack of features and an unnacceptable battery life have caused many to return their devices in exchange for an android or ios device.
Ya ya, i get it, there are some hardcore BlackBerry supporters out there who will take my opinion as a personal insult. Too bad. Deal with it.
Bottom line is that this company seems to make one mistake after another with regards to the R&D of their product. Although i do see some good potential with regards to the BB10 OS, i think that its launch was premature before the OS was actually stable enough for most consumers that is running on hardware that is unsatisfactory (i am refering to the battery). The Z10 itself is a sexy looking device but its looks dont coincide with its performance.
Anyhoo... I'm not a BlackBerry basher. Quite the opposite. I would love to see BlackBerry survive and grow, but i think at the rate they are going, they will be either bankrupt within a couple years or bought by a competitor in order to get some of their patents (ie BES).
They just dont seem to have anymore vision for innovation aftwr being the first OEM to offer a 'smartphone'.
Thats just my 2 cents... 2.26 cents after HST.
