Hi - bit of a lurker on here but thought a post of my findings so far on the Z10 might help me. Been a long time BB fan and user and just couldn't resist the lure of the Z10 so took the plunge and bought one to replace my BB9900. Always had BB's with physical keyboards apart from the STORM2 that is which ... well is best forgotten, a truly awful phone.
So only had the Z10 for a day and the migrate from the BB9900 to the Z10 has left me a little frustrated, first there was little info on actually doing this and I found a large number of people that had problems. Within minutes of switching on and connecting to my wifi it needed the O/S update - 526MB and about an hour later it rebooted. But then hung at the "Checking for Updates" screen, left it for 20 mins and then just rebooted it - this seemed to cure that problem and the setup continued.
Next problem was to migrate all my data from the 9900 to the Z10, the printed material that came with the phone gave little away on how to do this. The help pages that popped up on the Z10 during setup meant I had to power it off to put the media card back in the 9900 to perform this step, ok not a show stopper but why didn't the printed material just tell me this.
Anyway on to the restore of data to the Z10, all went well and said the right things on screen. The txt msgs were a bit odd in that they appeared to have copied over when viewing the hub but clicking into them did not show the body of the msg. I've checked this morning and there visible now ... maybe it just took a while for this to happen?
Only other thing I've noticed is that for a contact that has a picture in their profile it shows fine under the contacts list, but for those contacts that also use BBM when I go into BBM the profile picture is just blank - anyone know why this would be?
As said I've only had this for a day but overall impressed so far, a few niggles getting it setup. The virtual keyboard is going to be the biggest change for me as just loved the physical keyboard but wanted something with a bigger screen - simple as that.
I've owned a Playbook for a long time as well so was pleasantly surprised to see that the GUI is quite similar to that so felt very comfortable pretty much straight away. The phones new OS is definitely a million miles away from the 9900s OS 7.
Anyway, time to play with it for a bit longer.
