No Voicemail Notification

I'm brand new to the Blackberry world having put away my jail broken iPhone 5.

My problem is that I never get a voicemail notification. I am using GVoice now but even before that whenever someone left me a VM I would never be notified.

Am I doing something wrong or is that a non-feature of the Blackberry OS?
